Post Author Visit
I love the excitement and energy that happens during my school author visits. But then… after the visit, I often receive thank you notes from the students. It’s like getting a second helping of all that energy.
Kids amaze me with their originality, their creativity, and their sweet sentiments. From time to time I’ll share some of my favorites on my blog.
This letter grabbed my attention. The lovely free-hand border, the neat penmanship, and the long letter–perfectly fitting on the page. (I always remember squeezing the last words as I ran out of room. Not this girl!) Her sentiments are heart-warming — she wants to become an author!
Since it’s blurry (because it’s pencil) here’s what it says:
Dear Norma Jean Lutz,
Thank you for coming to visit our school! I think and believe that you inspire students like me to accomplish the goals that they have planned. You were also very much an inspiration to me because I would like to become an author someday, and it’s not everyday that you get to meet one!
My family says I write great stories, but I’ve never tried to write any based off of any historical events. I might try it someday. Most of my stories are realistic fiction because those are the easiest to write. Historical fiction is one of my writing goals. I have never written any in that genre, and I am trying to figure out how to write one. I hope to finish one someday
You are an inspiration to me, and I have not met very many authors before. Thank you for visiting our school!
Sincerely, M.
Another reason why I love teens, love to hang out with them, love to listen to their voices!
My newest release, Brought To You By The Color Drab, is a story of a teen who had many obstacles to overcome. But comes out a winner! You can read the first two chapters right here. Just click below.
