Personally, I’m a backyard gardener. I love digging in the dirt, tending the plants, and harvesting the produce. I grew up in a gardening family. My mother (and my grandmother before her) preserved almost everything that came out of the garden.

But these inner city students have not had the same opportunities — but now they do!

Clean Teen Reads“Let’s face it, the employment opportunities for our adults with disabilities are scarce at best,” says Karen Neville, “and the ones that came along were not the best fit for Kelly and her talents.”

Karen is the mother of Kelly who was born with Down Syndrome. Knowing the future looked bleak for her daughter, the two of them launched a business called Special Sparkle where they make custom jewelry.

In this Teens on  the Scene post, Kelly is center stage! She’s a strong-minded girl, with a great talent.
