Teens on the Scene — Young Entrepreneur Sews (and Sells) Bow Ties!
Moziah (Mo) Bridges has been fashion-conscious since age four. According to his mother, Mo has always loved to dress up and look sharp. One fashion statement he wanted to make was wearing bow ties, but all he could find were the clip-on style.
Decides to Sew His Own
That’s when he decided to sew his own. His grandmother, a retired seamstress, taught him how to sew, which allowed him not only to have bow ties that he could tie himself, but to be able to choose his favorite patterns, colors, and fabrics.
With the help of his mother and grandmother, he started selling them online, then to local retail stores. But it didn’t stop there. Now at age 14, he’s CEO of his own highly successful business, Mo’s Bows. He’s appeared on the Steve Harvey Show, Today Show, and Shark Tank, plus being featured in many publications such as Oprah Magazine.
Look Good and Feel Good
“I like to wear bow ties, because they make me look good and feel good,” Bridges writes on his website. “Designing a colorful bow tie is just part of my vision to make the world a fun and happier place.”
In 2012, Moziah started “Go Mo!” a charity focused on sending Memphis children to summer camp. Mo proves there’s more to success than excelling in what you love to do–it also involves giving back to the community.
