Before I moved to Oklahoma and actually lived here, I thought the state was hot, dry, dusty, and flat. Three out of four were closer to the truth. Just kidding. It’s not always hot, dry, and dusty. Definitely not as dusty as the 1930s. Oh, did I forget windy? Seems the wind is always blowing around here.
But flat? Oh no. There are many mountain ranges that offer breathtaking beauty. Not like the Rockies, but mountains nonetheless. The setting for A Noble Cause is in one of these mountain ranges located in the Southeastern corner of the state.
Jaden, whose Detroit life had always been on concrete, with well-ordered square blocks, now has massive tree-studded mountains practically in his back yard. Trails rather than streets. And springs and streams as opposed to gutters and sewers. At first ominous and scary, he comes to love it.
