Ending the “Book Famine” — Books for Africa

Clean Teen Reads

Clean Teen ReadsA few months ago, I wrote a blog about a young man from Malawi named William Kamkwamba. Because of the availability of a few books in his village, he almost single-handedly brought electricity to his village. You can read his story HERE. Books make a huge difference, in so many ways, for so many people.

Books For Africa

More recently, I’ve learned of an organization in St. Paul, MN called Books for Africa. Even though this organization is new to me, they’ve been around for more than 30 years. In those 30 years, they’ve shipped millions of dollars worth of books to Africa. You can read more about the organization HERE.

My Clean Teen Reads website and blog are all about books. I’m pretty passionate about books and reading. It’s exciting to think of trailer-truck loads of book being shipped to those who need them. I applaud this group for all they’re doing. What an amazing undertaking!

Teens on the Scene: Farmer Students in Downtown Baltimore

Clean Teen Reads

Recently, we’ve heard bad news coming out of Baltimore, MD. So, how about good news for a change.

Clean Teen ReadsLook what these students are doing right in the midst of their city.

Personally, I’m a backyard gardener. I love digging in the dirt, tending the plants, and harvesting the produce. I grew up in a gardening family. My mother (and my grandmother before her) preserved almost everything that came out of the garden.

But these inner city students have not had the same opportunities — but now they do!

Check out this amazing video.
