The Choctaw Nation is the third-largest federally recognized tribe in the United States and the second-largest Indian reservation in area after the Navajo.
The Choctaw came to Oklahoma via the Removal Act and the Trail of Tears. Before the Oklahoma Land Rush, the Choctaw communities boasted of schools, institutes of higher learning, law enforcement, medical facilities, newspapers, and churches. For the most part, they were quiet and law-abiding citizens. Most lawbreakers were those who came into the area illegally.
Coming from Detroit, Jaden had never met an Indian in his life. Then he meets Marty (Martin) Greyfox, and the Greyfox family. And his life is forever changed.
Their acreage, Nashoba Springs, tucked into a hidden valley up in the mountains becomes Jaden’s respite from the adversities and disappointments in his young life.
